Water-based coatings for automotive interiors, entered by qualification.

Automotive interior parts carry material specs that no coating can skip. chemlinkai works this industry the way it has to be worked: your part specification, our candidate coating, part-level validation, and a proofing sample before any supply conversation. Nothing here is marketed as pre-approved.

How we enter this industry

The starting point is the part and its specification, not a coating catalog. Substrate plastic grade, surface energy, any pretreatment, application method and bake schedule, and the end-use tests the part must pass — together these define whether a water-based coating is viable and which series to screen.

Two points are stated plainly: we do not claim OEM approvals we do not hold, and we do not extrapolate a result from one plastic grade to another. Each part entry runs its own validation.

  • Interior trim, panels and consoles as candidate application areas — confirmed per project
  • Water-based coating series screened against your part specification
  • Proofing samples on your substrate, under your application conditions
  • Qualification scope agreed up front: tests, tolerances and decision points

Automotive & mobility questions

What do you need to start an automotive interior coating project?

The part or a representative plaque, the substrate grade and surface state, the application and bake schedule, and the end-use tests the part must pass. With those, we propose the candidate series and a qualification plan with agreed acceptance criteria.

Do you hold OEM approvals for automotive coatings?

We do not claim approvals we do not hold. Approval evidence is developed per project against the OEM specification you provide, and published documentation follows verification. The industry page and solution pages mark such evidence as pending until it is confirmed.

Can a water-based coating match the look of a solvent-based interior coating?

Color and gloss can be matched from spectral measurement and drawdown comparison, but the full appearance — including DOI and texture effects — depends on the substrate and application method. The proofing sample is the point where look and performance are confirmed together.

Why does each part need its own validation?

Because interior parts differ in plastic grade, surface energy, geometry and the tests they must pass. A coating result on one grade does not transfer to another; part-level validation is what makes the recommendation defensible.
