Water-based baking coatings for metal parts and automotive interiors
Industrial parts and automotive interior components carry coating specs that combine adhesion, hardness and chemical resistance after bake. chemlinkai develops water-based baking and protective coating systems with documented scope — pretreatment, substrate, oven curve and test methods are agreed before volume supply starts.
Who it is for
Coating lines and Tier suppliers finishing metal housings, frames, brackets, glass and automotive interior components, where the coating is qualified against a customer spec and delivered on a schedule.
It also fits plants replacing solvent-borne bake coats with water-based systems and needing the same documented test path — substrate, pretreatment, oven curve and reporting.
Which production problems do industrial coaters bring to us?
- Adhesion loss on metal after bake — we review pretreatment, oil contamination and the cure schedule in that order.
- Coverage or edge pull on complex interior parts — application method and rheology are matched to your line first.
- A hardness-versus-flexibility balance that fails impact or bending tests — we rebalance the resin system, not the additive pack.
- Color and gloss drift across batches and shifts — strength targets, dispersion and measurement discipline are handled as one workflow.
- Chemical or humidity resistance shortfalls on the finished part — film build and the actual oven curve are checked before the chemistry changes.
Recommended system
System roles across a bake-coat process. The exact grade is selected per project during application testing.
| Layer / step | chemlinkai system | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
| Metal surface (pretreated) | Pretreatment-matched coating system | Adhesion to your specified conversion coating or clean-metal state |
| Primer role | Water-based primer system | Corrosion barrier and the anchor for the top coat on your substrate |
| Baking top coat | Water-based baking coating system | Hardness, chemical resistance and appearance after your oven curve |
| Automotive interior parts | Interior-spec coating system | Adhesion and resistance behavior against the OEM test set you must meet |
| Glass or multi-material parts | Substrate-adapted coating system | Adhesion and durability where metal is not the only surface in the part |
System roles are described functionally and mapped to your part and process during application testing. Current documentation is released after final verification.
Pretreatment, application, baking and testing — every step is fixed before supply so the coating result stays repeatable.
Salt-spray, humidity, adhesion, hardness and chemical-resistance data is generated per substrate and per test standard you specify, then published after verification and customer approval. Tell us your test set and we will scope it — we reply within 2 business days.
Coating qualification in four steps
Your QC team sees the same method at trial and in volume supply.
Share the spec
Part, substrate, pretreatment, oven curve, test standard and the volumes you plan.
Lab panels
We prepare candidate systems and run panels under the agreed cure and test conditions.
Part trial
You run coated parts on your line and through your QC test set.
Optimize & supply
The system is tuned from part-trial feedback, then batch supply starts with QC and traceability.
Case studies are published after customer approval. Ask us for reference conversations in your segment.
Documentation
Documents for each delivered system are released after final verification. Request the current version with your project scope.
Documents marked “pending” are released after final verification — request the current version through the form and we will send it with the applicable scope.
Common questions
Can water-based baking coatings match solvent-borne performance on our line?
Qualification decides that, not a claim. We agree the substrate, pretreatment, oven curve and test standard first, run panels and parts, and report the results against your specification.
Do you supply for automotive interior OEM programs?
We enter programs where the specification, documentation and test path are defined. Share your test set and part description — we will confirm scope and documentation before sampling.
How is the oven curve handled?
Baking systems are matched to your oven — temperature, dwell and part mass. The assumed cure schedule is stated in the trial report and confirmed with your QC before volume supply.
Do you supply the pretreatment as well?
We specify the pretreatment state the coating is qualified on and work with your current pretreatment supplier. The coating system is validated on the surface you actually run.
What documentation do you provide for coated-part approval?
TDS, SDS and batch COA, plus a compliance statement where applicable, released after final verification for the confirmed system. Request the current version with your project scope.
Where are your coatings manufactured?
Manufacturing bases are in Hangzhou, Lishui, Linyi and Guigang, with formulation and application development in the Hangzhou R&D institute. As of September 2026.
Send us your part, substrate and test set.
One message with your part, substrate, pretreatment and the test standard you must hold — our application engineers will scope the coating system, confirm documentation and set up the panel trial.
